Now, you may never have thought to yourself "Boy I really wish I had a comic book that would simultaneously entertain me and teach me about nautical history." But now that you're mulling it over ... it sounds pretty cool, right?
Lucy Bellwood, a self-described "tall ship sailor-turned-cartoonist" launched a Kickstarter campaign today for Baggywrinkles, her "one-part educational textbook, one-part autobio memoir, and one-part historical joyride" comic. From it's silly lessons on scurvy, its explanations about why "walking the plank" is stupid, to its featuring of a badass sailor broad, Baggywrinkles basically seems like the coolest comic of all time. Not to mention it has a great name.
The book will combine the Baggywrinkles comics Bellwood has already made in one hundred-page volume, as well as add a brand new installment. But before the book can be distributed, she needs $15,000 to get it designed and printed. To motivate donations, Bellwood's offering some great rewards, including, for a mere $8, a copy of the book itself!
